Project 5/6: 2 pinch pots put together/small animal sculpture
The egg was made with two pinch pots put together. My original plan was to make my two pinch pots into some sort of vase or planter, but when I was it's shape, the idea of an egg came to mind, and I decided I wanted a platypus to be emerging from it. The first image was my original inspiration for the platypus.
A lot of issues came up in this process. The platypus did not fit in the egg with arms or legs, so I decided it was best for me to not add them. I also feel I may have over-glazed my piece, as the glaze took away from many of the details.
Project 7/8: Relief tile/ Historically inspired
With this project, I was forced to overcome many challenges. From handling the tedious process of putting on sails to having to repaint it many times, and finally, it breaking when it was just before it was done. However, I was able to get through all of these issues and came out with a product I am very happy with.
This is based on the Sørlandet. She is one of the very few and the very oldest full-rigged tall ship in the world. She is Norwegian. She was launched in 1927. Although she is part of more recent history, this ship has been a central part of education and training for over 50 years. Tall ships have been a crucial part of history, being the primary form of transportation for goods, people, culture, and ideas across the oceans.
Project 9: coil pot
I was really happy with how this was turning out, but I had to slop bucket it because we had Thanksgiving break and it was not going to make it.
