Project 1: stamp

I chose to do an octopus for my stamp because I am really fascinated by octopi as a species

I started by creating a small silinder and a square. I conected them by scoring and slipping. I then drew the shape of the octopus into the clay with a nedle tool and carved around the shape.

A lot went wrong with this piece, and I am not pleased with the outcome. For starters, I picked much too difficult of a shape for my stamp. Furthermore, I had my nails done and it was nearly impossible to make anything smooth or precise with long nails. however, I was still able to persevere and make a semi-useable stamp.

Project 2: face

My face did not go at all how I hoped, so I ended up throwing it out. For starters, my long nails and lack of recent experience made it incredibly difficult for me to get anything done to my liking. The facial features were all wonky and lop sided and nothing was smooth. I was not to upset in this failure as I used it as an opportunity to learn and grown from my mistakes and I'm sure if I ever choose to make a face again I will turn out much better, and I will end up with a piece that I can enjoy and cherish.

Project 3: pinch pot cut in half

Although this is not a "real" project, it was very helpful practice and helped me to master pinch pots. I think that it ended up ok but I'm sure there is much room for improvement as far as pinch pots come.

Project 4: Pinch pot turned into something useful

I made three little pinch pots out of low-fire white clay. I made these for ice cream. My long nails made this very difficult, but I managed to make three bowls with at least semi-even thickness throughout the piece.

Somehow I lost one of the bowls. I'm not sure where it is. It was also not in the bin of unfirable pieces.
